How Do I Stop Sports Betting?
You will not stop the betting until you see what the betting is doing for you. The bet is a symptom with a purpose.
You already know the mechanics. Delete the apps, block the sites, hand the cards to someone else. You have probably done some of it. And it comes back, because the mechanics were never the thing holding you. What holds you is the state betting puts you in, and until you understand that state, blocking the access just moves the pressure somewhere else.
So look at the state. For most people who cannot stop, the bet is not really about money and it is not even really about winning. It is about the aliveness of the open bet. While the game is live and the outcome is undecided, you are fully awake, fully in your body, entirely present to one thing. Nothing else exists. If the rest of your life feels flat, managed, or numb, that window of total presence is the most alive you feel all week. You are not chasing the payout. You are chasing the feeling of being switched on. The bet is the only thing that reliably switches you on.
That is why the wins are dangerous rather than satisfying. A win does not end the hunger, it feeds it, because the thing you wanted was the state, and winning proves the state can be had again. This is the trap people miss. They think they are trying to get even or get ahead. They are actually trying to get back into the only room where they feel real. Stopping the betting without building any other door into that aliveness is asking yourself to go back to the flatness you were escaping. Of course it does not hold.
So the real work is two-handed. One hand puts hard friction between you and the bet, the blocks, the money out of reach, another person in the loop, because in the grip of it you cannot trust your own hands. The other hand asks the harder question. Where else in your life were you ever fully awake, and what happened to it. That is the question the betting has been answering for you. Take the answer away and something has to sit in its place.
This names a pattern. It is not treatment. Gambling can become a genuine addiction with its own machinery, and if it has money, relationships, or your safety in its grip, please get proper support. In many places there are free confidential gambling helplines, and that is a strength to use, not a last resort.
If you want to understand the flatness the bet was lighting up, the free book Before Approaching the Threshold is a quiet first step.
This names the structure. Seeing your own version of it is the work. The Atlas takes what you brought here and shows you the pattern underneath it, free, and there is a free book that shows where the work begins.

Why do I keep betting even after big losses?
Because for many people the pull is not the money, it is the state of the open bet, the full presence and aliveness while the outcome hangs. Losses hurt but they do not remove that pull. As long as the bet is the only place you feel switched on, the losses will not stop you on their own.
Will blocking the apps be enough to quit?
Blocking is necessary but rarely sufficient. It removes the access without touching the reason you reached. Unless you also build another way to feel awake and present, the pressure tends to find a new outlet or wait for the blocks to weaken. Do both, and get real support if it has a grip on you.
