At the end of Part One I made you a promise: there is a reason we destroy the people who do this work, and once you see it, you will start to see it in your own life. For people doing the deepest work a human being can do, we know almost nothing about them. The druids left almost nothing in their own hand. The village woman's knowledge was never written down. And the reason is uncomfortable. The people who feared them are the ones who wrote the history. Rome wrote the story of the druids after Rome destroyed them. The church wrote the story of the witch while it was busy burning her.

That not-knowing isn't an accident. It's a fingerprint, the mark left behind by the thing that erased them.Then I show you the mechanism that did the erasing, because it isn't superstition and it isn't ignorance. It's the shadow, the part of ourselves we cannot bear to own, and the way we hand it to whoever will hold it. For most of human history there was a particular person who took it on: the one at the edge of the village who would handle death, the dark, the things everyone else was terrified of.

Sought in the night, then feared for the very power they'd been given, then destroyed so the rest could feel clean again. Sought, feared, burned. The full circle.And here's where it reaches into your own life. There is no safe position. Carry the shadow and you're feared for the power. Refuse it, hold a boundary, say "no, that one is yours," and you're condemned for the refusal. Every age has a word it reaches for to do the condemning, and the word always borrows the authority of its time.

Once it was witch, heretic, Satan worshipper, spoken with the authority of the church. Now the highest authority is psychology, so the words are narcissist, gaslighter, toxic, abuser. Those things are real, and for some people the right word was the thing that saved their life. The sin isn't the word. The sin is what happens when it's torn out of the clinic and thrown as a weapon by someone who simply cannot stand that you won't carry their shadow for them.The burning times didn't end.
