Why Dark Psychology Won't Stop You Being Manipulated
Ep 545: Why Dark Psychology Won't Stop You Being Manipulated
Why doesn't learning everything about manipulators stop you being manipulated? Dark psychology promises that if you learn every tactic, spot the narcissist in the first few minutes and read The 48 Laws of Power, nobody will ever play you again. After twenty years as a therapist, I've watched it do the opposite.
In this episode I show you what happens to the person who decides never to be hurt again: everyone gets run through a checklist, suspicion gets called wisdom, and sometimes the person who was manipulated becomes the manipulator. I explain why dark psychology and personal development sit on the same spectrum, the hard end and the soft end of one performance, why manipulation only ever works through the parts of you that were given up to stay safe, why suspicion isn't recognition, and what it means to step off the spectrum altogether.
Tell me in the comments which end of the spectrum you've lived at, the soft end or the armoured end, and what pushed you there.
