from the architects codecs a quote from before approaching the threshold. Your subconscious processes approximately 11 million bits of information per second. Your conscious mind processes approximately 40. A ratio of roughly 275,000 to 1.

Your conscious mind is not the driver of your experience. It is simply a passenger. Listen back to those numbers again. 11 million to 40.

Your conscious mind, the voice in your head, the maker of plans, the setter of goals is a small, very recent, peripheral phenomenon running on top of a vast system that does not answer to it. The subconscious determines which 11 million bits get filtered down to the 40 that you're aware of. It selects what reaches consciousness before you're aware of it. You don't experience reality.

You experience a highly filtered, architecturally determined construction of reality. And you experience it as if it were direct, unmediated truth. This is why willpower fails. It's the 40 bits trying to override the 11 million.
