from the architects codecs, a quote from the accountability problem. Most accountability failures are not failures of discipline, they're failures of architecture. You cannot consistently act against the structure you inhabit, the structure always wins eventually. Now this is why willpower fails, you're trying to force behaviour that contradicts your underlying architecture.

It's like trying to make water flow uphill through she determination. You can do it briefly with enough effort, enough pressure, enough force of will. You can push water up a slope. But the moment your attention wave is gravity resumes and the water flows back down.

Your architecture is gravity. Your conscious intentions are the push. The push always loses to gravity over time. So the solution isn't stronger pushing, it's changing the architecture of the slope.
